Social and Community Service
The Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations introduced Socially Useful
Productive Work (SUPW) as a mandatory part of its curriculum.
However Social and Community Service has been an integral part of Mussoorie International
School since its inception. Every attempt is made to promote a wider understanding
of society through interactions with important and well known personalities in the
area of community service and assistance to the under privileged.
The school has over the years adopted villages like Lakhwar and Kempty Village and
worked with the villagers in the construction of houses and community centres. Students
have also taken an active part in child and adult literacy programmes by teaching
English and Maths to them, as well as to the lady workers in the houses, and mentoring
their children. The members of the Interact Club of the school, in coordination
with the Rotary Club of Mussoorie, have conducted health camps in rural areas, creating
AIDS awareness, Swine Flu awareness, and a campaign with a group of doctors for
free eye checkups in Lakhwar Village.
The school also encourages tree planting, water conservation and waste recycling. The students have participated in the campaign “Clean Mussoorie, Green Mussoorie”, where they cleaned the areas adjoining the school and received a certificate of appreciation from the Director of Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie
